With Practice Comes Beauty

Anticipation hangs heavy in the air as students of the Chicago Ballet Arts prepare for the small dance studio's 30th Anniversary Concert. The nervous energy emanates from backstage, but once on stage, dancers float confidently in unison, performing with elegance, expertise and poise. Belied by the ease with which dancers glide and waft across the stage, an onlooker cannot fully appreciate what must occur to craft such perfection. Many ballet dancers find their calling as early as age 4, gradually increasing their hours of deliberate practice, training to excel and perfect their craft. But hours of this grueling, technical practice are essential in creating such a stunning and blissful tour de force.
